Chris creates a warm, relaxed and welcoming environment for his clients, allowing them to explore their challenges in a compassionate and uplifting atmosphere. He works together with his clients to help them to understand their struggles without judgement. Drawing upon their strengths, he endeavours to equip and empower his clients to cope more effectively with life’s challenges and to create lasting positive change in their lives.

Chris has previously worked in both inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, as well as community mental health and tertiary psychological services. He has worked with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and with a wide variety of age groups.

Chris has a particular interest in supporting people of all ages struggling with anxiety and depressive disorders. He creates a motivating and light-hearted environment to allow his clients to process their concerns and develop the skills necessary for lasting change. When treating young people, Chris works together with their families, offering high quality treatments that empower everyone involved to improve their lives.

Chris is a Christian and works with patients who wish to see a psychologist with a shared faith and world view.

Therapy Approaches

Chris has received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and incorporates elements of other scientifically proven therapeutic techniques into his treatment plans, including:

  • Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT),
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT),
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Schema Therapy

Chris is a trained facilitator of the following programs:

  • Cool Kids and Chilled Macquarie University anxiety programs
  • ADAPT chronic pain management program

Chris works alongside his clients to identify the most effective and helpful intervention for them, developing a tailored treatment plan. Using this plan as a “roadmap”, he equips his clients with the skills and strategies necessary to address their particular concerns and overcome any additional issues that they encounter along the way.

His latest research focused on factors that predicted and protected aged care workers from burnout, depression and anxiety.
