As a psychologist, Mayeesha places utmost importance on creating a safe and nurturing space for her clients, one which they look forward to coming back to each time. For her, taking a warm, compassionate, and curious approach to therapy is key in helping her clients feel at ease. She believes that therapy should feel – well, therapeutic! She values taking the time to truly learn about each individual’s unique experience so she may understand the root of each person’s presentation and therefore, how best to address it in a way that is safe and empowering.
Mayeesha has experience working with clients across the lifespan and a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including outpatient services and community health services to provide high quality, interdisciplinary care for clients of diverse backgrounds. Prior to commencing at The Talbot Centre, Mayeesha had worked in roles providing psychological support to refugees and asylum seekers and in learning support within a school setting. She is extremely passionate about working with clients with eating disorders and presentations related to body image and self-esteem within a non-diet/Health at Every Size framework.
